Maintaining structural integrity beneath the water surface is one of the most critical disciplines in marine engineering. Proving its extensive capabilities, PT Yasa Persada Engineering (YASA) successfully completed a high-risk underwater infrastructure engineering project for a major logistics port expansion in Kelanis, Central Kalimantan, in 2025. This project synergized rigorous surveys with complex underwater welding to guarantee the structural endurance of a vital energy transfer berthing facility.
Before structural connection execution commenced, YASA’s expert teams conducted precision surveys and measurements of the underwater bracing systems. Given the extremely limited visibility in dynamic riverine waters, mapping the geometry and load-bearing capacity of the steel piles demanded absolute mathematical accuracy. This critical survey acted as the foundational data required to determine the exact, safe, and precise methodology for the subsequent operational phase.
Equipped with precise survey data, YASA’s specialized certified diver-welders executed the wet welding process. Utilizing premium, specially specified water-resistant electrodes, our team successfully connected and modified critical steel components directly below the waterline. This marine mechanical work, which requires top-tier technical expertise and absolute adherence to maritime HSE safety standards, is highly essential for evenly distributing the heavy operational loads of massive barges.
The successful completion of this precision survey and underwater welding execution is a solid testament to the Operational Excellence provided by YASA. By combining highly certified personnel with reliable marine engineering methodologies, YASA guarantees the integrity, load-bearing capacity, and extended operational lifespan of strategic logistics infrastructures operating in the most challenging environments.
